Calling All Local Comedic Actors!
Submissions are now open for the 2022 HAWAII COMEDY FESTIVAL SKETCH ACTORS!
The 8th Annual Hawaii Comedy Festival will be held from Thursday, October 14th – Saturday, October 15th, 2022 at Studio 909 in the Musicians Association of Hawaii.
What is the Hawaii Comedy Fest Sketch Night?
The Two Scoops Funny Show is a 90-minute comedy variety show filled with original sketch comedy scripts (both live and filmed), stand up and live music. The show is written by the Hawaii Comedy Festival 2022 Start-Up team and performed by local actors.
Commitments:
- Actors must be available for rehearsals October 3rd-October 12th (exact schedule will be provided)
- Actors must be available for the final dress rehearsal on October 13th
- Actors must be available for the show on October 14th
- Actors must be willing and able to commit to the memorization and characterization of assigned scripts
How to Submit:
- To be considered, actors* must submit a self-tape that includes the following:
- Slate Name and Location
- Character monologue (Link to monologue can be found here)
- Any impressions or characters you have (optional)
- THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT IS: Sept. 18th 11:59pm HST
*Open to Oahu-based actors only
Tips to make a great self-tape:
- Make sure we can see you. Have natural or artificial light in front of you.
- Film in landscape and frame from the waist up.
- Be sure we can hear you. Listen and watch your tape before submitting.
- You may film all 3 submission portions separately and edit them together in a program like iMovie.
Important Notes:
Please note that this event is on a volunteer basis, which means there is no pay, unfortunately. If selected, you will receive a complimentary ticket to the Hawaii Comedy Festival Sketch Night.
Meet Your Director:
Hawaii born actor Kimee Balmilero is best known for her regular role as Medical Examiner Dr. Noelani Cunha on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I. She was recently cast as a series regular in the ABC pilot Josep playing comedian Jo Koy’s sister Geraldine. Other professional credits include Doogie Kameloha MD on Disney+, Two Tickets To Paradise on The Hallmark Channel, and the Original Broadway Cast of Mamma Mia. Since returning home to Hawaii, Kimee has directed for Diamond Head Theatre (Mamma Mia), Stage Fish (Last Five Years), and Gridiron – a local, topical comedy variety show featuring Hawaii TV personalities and journalists. kimeeb.com
